Hi,
The action to take depends on why you need the information.
For an Industrial Injury Claim, you will need to make the request by letter. Please include:
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • DOB
  • National Insurance number
  • Explanation as to what they require
  • If from a solicitor we need a signed authority - authorising HMRC to release this information to the solicitors
  • Dated signature (without this we will not process request)
The letter should be sent to:
RRS Employment Histories
Room BP8003
HM Revenue and Customs
National Insurance Contributions Office
BX9 1AN

For employment history of any period in the last 5 years for background or security checks, please contact our Income Tax team.
Income Tax: general enquiries

For Employment History for any other reason, you can complete the online form for a SARS request under the General Data Protection Regulation. Go to www.gov.uk and search for HMRC SAR. If you are unable to use the form, you can write to us to request the information you require. Your written request must include all of the following –
  • full name
  • National Insurance number
  • date of birth
  • current address and previous address if you have moved within the last 5 years
  • what information you need and over what time period you need the information for
  • your original signature (Online requests do not require this)
Send the letter to:
SARS/DPU
HM Revenue and Customs
National Insurance Contributions Office
BX9 1AN
Thank you.
