I am 64 years old and wish to claim a full state retirement pension when I retire. I am trying to find out: (1) how many years' (Voluntary) Class 3 National Insurance contributions I have to pay, and (2) How I can pay the amounts owing before the imminent deadline for payment. I have telephoned HMRC multiple times and submitted forms and letters in Sept 2024, but not received the info I so desperately need. I have tried to set up a Government Gateway Account but failed; although I am a full UK passport holder, I don't have a UK driver's license, post code, credit card or bank account. I have not lived in the UK since Aug 1990 and have lived in Hong Kong since Sept. 2001. Today, I downloaded the app to scan my face to prove my ID, but am told I have the wrong iPhone. What can I do? Time is running out!

Hi,
To enable us to trace for any National Insurance contributions that you may have paid before obtaining a National Insurance Number, please send us a letter and include copies of P60s, and, or payslips for the tax years that you would like us to trace.
If you no longer have your P60s or payslips then please let us know the full name and address of each employer and the period of each employment (from … to …). Our postal address is:
PT Operations North East England,
HM Revenue & Customs,
BX9 1AN,
United Kingdom
Thank you.
