I will be of no fixed abode until December- I am new to the country, and due to the housing shortage, I booked a month and a half of various temporary accommodations to cover myself while I search for a room. My employer requires my address for HMRC, and I require an address to apply for a NiN. I cannot find anything which specifies that you legally require an address to work in the UK. My work is happy to receive mail for me for my first few months. My workmate has said if needed, I can also provide their address as a c/o. Can I please check what the normal process is for tax matters when someone does not have an address- I'm not sure whether there is a blanket rule, or whether employers need to speak with HMRC directly.

Hi t3678m H,
If you do not have a permanent address at present then you can use a care of address until you have a permanent address.
Thank you.

Hi, what happens when you need to use a ‘care of’ address however the person residing at the address claims benefits, does this affect their benefits at all if they receive my post?
