I had my first child in September 1983 and claimed for child benefit which I got. I have recently been checking my State Pension forecast and it says that I do not have enough NI contributions for 1983/84, I believe I should have credits for this year under the HRP section? All the other years from 1984/85 onwards are correct (I had another child in 1986 and a third one in 1989) Can anyone help me with this please?

Hi juliemci McIntyre,
You would only receive full years of credits while claiming Child Benefit.
As your child was born in September 1983 you wouldn’t have received any credits for the 1983/1984 tax year, however you would receive them from 1984 onwards.
Thank you
