Regarding years that are not full... 2019-2020: "We are checking this year to see if it counts towards your pension. " Why is it taking so long, it was over 3 years ago? 1990-1991: " You can make up the shortfall. Pay a voluntary contribution of £xxx.xx by 5 April 2024." Why is this offered, yet other information says only available back to 2006? Can I pay this contribution and gain another full year or not?

Hi,

The 1990 to 1991 tax year shows it is being reviewed as you were possibly registered as self employed.

This year is time barred for both Class 2 and voluntary Class 3 national insurance contribution (NICs) payments.

If you paid the class 2 for the 1990 to 1991 tax year and believe it should be qualifying you will need to write to the department.

If you waived or applied for a small earnings exemption then you will not have needed to pay this tax year.

Thank you.
