I am a British national have received a job offer from a foreign company and would be working remotely from the UK. The company has offered me a salary that falls below the National Minimum Wage. Is a foreign company with no base in the UK bound by the National Minimum Wage requirement in England? Can they lawfully pay me a salary that amounts to approximately £9 per hour?

Hi,
To qualify for the National Minimum Wagem a worker must be working, or ordinarily working in the United Kingdom under their contract.
If you believe that you have not been paid the minimum wage you can contact the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) by their helpline on 0300 123 1100.
You can also raise a complaint to HMRC using the following online form:

Thank you.
