Hi, My previous employer paid for my visa expenses. When leaving the job, they made me reimburse them the full amount. My current employer accepted to reimburse me this full amount on a pre-tax basis - I was discounted both taxes and NI according to the payroll department. This means that on a net-basis I have received less than the actual amount I had to reimburse my previous job for the costing of my visa expenses to perform my job. Questions: 1) Can I get this tax and national insurance reimbursed? This was not an income, but in my spayslip it is shown as a sign on bonus. 2) given this was for year 2024-25, would I have to wait until April 2026, or can I ask my tax code to be already adjusted? I would need the tax refund as soon as possible, in order to pay my previous employer.

Hi,
Please refer to:
UK visa sponsorship for employers
You will need to wait until after the end of the tax year if you are entitled.
Thank you.
