My estimated income from my first employment in the tax year of 2023-2024 is £35000 and the tax code is 248L. My second employment estimated income is £10000 for the same tax year and the tax code is BR NON CUM. My question is assuming I earn more than £10000 for the year will it affect my first employment tax code and what are the consequences of earning more than estimated income in employment 2

Hi Nicks1983 Okezie,
If you will earn more than £10,000 at your second job then you can update the estimate pay online if you have a Personal Tax Account:
Personal tax account: sign in or set up
Or you can contact HMRC to review the code:
Income Tax: general enquiries
If you earn more at your second job and then if you reach the higher rate of tax your code will need to be adjusted further to collect the correct tax.
Thank you.

I have two jobs, My salary for main job , job 1 is £57k, my monthly gross is £4,808 my take home is £2,250. My tax code is D0 M1. My salary for job two is circa £10k. My tax code is 116LN. Why is my take home from job 1 so low? It’s more than 40% a month deduction?
