I would like to understand few questions that has come through regarding the P45 processing. Could you please clear the below doubts: I understand that we should have a leaving date in all the P45's generated. But could you please confirm if we can process a P45 which doesnt have a leaving date in it but has the week and month number on it? Can we accept a P45 without an NI number on the P45? And the last one is if the employee has submitted a P45 and if the leaving date of P45 is after the joining date in the organization, should we accept that or do we need to ask for a starter declaration?

Hi,

A P45 must have a leaving date. You do not need an NI number to report payroll so you wouldnt need one on a P45.

For the final one I would use the starter declaration as the tax, and income may be different as their year to date may include current employment.

Thank you.
