Hi,
If you intend to leave the UK but have not yet left, you must print and post your P85.
You can tell HMRC that you’ve left the UK and want to claim back tax from your UK employment here:
Get your Income Tax right if you're leaving the UK (P85)
Thank you

Hi,
You are liable to pay National Insurance contributions whilst living and working in the UK, and no refund would be due based on the fact that you are now leaving the UK.
Thank you.

I started working full time from Sept 2021. I am leaving the UK in December 2024. Question: can I claim tax refund for 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 all together? If not, should I apply for separately for each year 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025? Also can we get tax refund or the GST paid on gadgets purchased like laptop, I Pad and phone.

I left the UK last year, and was sent a cheque for tax refund as I overpaid tax. But I never received this cheque - I have called HMRC multiple times, but no resolution. What should I do?

Hello, I have a two questions please as information across the internet is different: 1. If I am leaving UK in March 2025, does that mean I would get tax refund only for the current tax year (April 6 2025 to March 2025) or for the April 5 2024 to March 2025? 2. For how many years I can claim tax refund? I was reading somewhere it is up to 4 years back? Is this correct? Cheers

Hello! I'm waiting for the cheque with the refund of my taxes from 2024 to 2025 but I need to know if I can claim taxes I payed for the year before (2023 to 2024) It's confusing because there is no information about how to claim taxes from the year before the current year and I have just my P60 for 2023-2024. It would be very helpful a very clear response. Many thanks.

Hi , I have submitted the tax refund documents (Tax if you leave the UK to live abroad) and also received the message from HRMC app say that I will receive a cheque for the tax refund after 14 days, but I already moved outside the UK, and i also changed my postal address to Hong Kong address in HRMC app. Will HRMC sent the cheque to HK directly? Also, as I already moved out and i cannot receive any message to my phone even the access codes, so how can get the access codes and login the HRMC app? Thank you

Hi Penny920,
The repayment will have been issued to the address you instructed on the leaving the UK claim form, if you are unsure what you have put and can no longer access your online account, you should contact our helplines who can advise further.
