this is a query about employment allowance claims . i am a sole trader for business A and a director with 50% shareholding in business B which is a incorporated LTD company i currently run PAYE payrolls for business A and business B through an agent a claim for employment allowance for business A is made but has not for business B . am i able to claim employment allowance for the separate LTD company ? i am told because both payrolls have my name attached that only 1 can be claimed. i would like clarification as the guidance on this from HMRC is also very grey. both companies are within hospitality but both separate businesses.

Hi,
As the two businesses are not connected as one is incorporated and one is unincorporated both can claim EA.
Thank you.
