French Company employing UK staff

What is the easiest way for a French company to pay a UK based employee? Do they need to set up a employer PAYE scheme, and can this be done without the need for a UK company or subsidiary? Thanks

The individual would declare this as foreign income and pay the tax themselves and there would be no need for the company to set up a PAYE scheme.
