We are looking to pay a large tax free sum to a leaver (payment after leaving), what will we need to report to HMRC to ensure the ex employee's HMRC record is updated and any tax liability that may be identified is notified to us (the employer)

Hi,
You will need to put this through your payroll software as normal, it may charge tax as it is now a payment after leaving. If you use a third party software we suggest you contact them for advice.
