Is it possible to pay into SIPP directly (making clear that I do not want pension provider to reclaim 20% tax from HMRC) and simply reduce this from my earnings? (Does this mean not declaring the income on self assessment?) Or can self-employed not benefit from NI savings? If this is the case, this would be very unfair.

Hi,
No, the tax relief is applied automatically. It would only be if you made a lump sum at the very end of the tax year that would be paid gross for you then to claim the relief from HMRC.
Thank you.
