Hello, I am a UK tax resident and I will be moving to the EU soon. I am registered as self employed and I am also a sole director and shareholder of an ltd company. I have not made any income from my self employed activities in the tax year 2024/25. The only income I have had is dividend payments from my ltd company. The company will be closed soon, however I believe that this takes a few months to process so it may well be after my departure from the UK. I will register in the EU country as soon as I arrive and I will become a tax resident there. My questions is, how do I inform the HMRC about my departure? I would like to close my UK residency immediately, should I do it by filling p85? Also, what is the earliest I can file my final Self Assessment for the tax year 2024/25? Thank you in advance.

Hi iop,
Either send a P85, or send a paper tax return, including the form SA109.
You can send this from 06/04/2025.
