Hello, I am changing jobs and have a leave date agreed of 5th April 2024. When my employer issues my P45 on 5th April, what will the earnings and tax to date show on the P45..e.g will it show zero as new tax year has just started on 5th or the full years details for period 5th April 23-5th April 24? Alternatively if I changed leave date to 12th April, would it show 1 week’s worth of earning for 5th -12tb April 24? Thank you.

Hi MrMoodHoover,
As the new tax year starts on the 6th of April, if you leave on the 5th, your P45 should show your tax for the 23/24 tax year from that employer. Leaving on the 12th will mean that your P45 will show your income from the 6th to the 12th of April 2024.
Thank you.
