i have been on sick leave since 2023 ran out of sick pay and not entitled to benefits as have military pension .this week i was eventually told i would be retired from my job due to my lack of ability to do my job this is fine but today i have found out that the payment they have given me as back dated sick pay and payment in lieu of notice etc has been taxed so heavily. i appreciate i have gone into the highertax band so loose entitlement to married allowance that i was claiming but how can i be taxed over 10k on just over 27k payment . i have just turned 66 in march so am guessing its something to do with that but surely this is not correct and how do i get it sorted ??
