Can I cancel a tax refund once it is set in motion

I received a letter advising me of a tax refund and filled in the form on my personal tax account, not realising this would count against my universal credit. The only way for it not to be affected would be if the refund doesn't take place. Is there any way to cancel or halt the payment now? I claimed it around lunch time, yesterday.
