Hi there, My main source of income is through my self-employed work. From this month onwards I am gaining supplementary income through an employer that pays through PAYE. My self-employed work, however, will still be my main source of income. And in a few months I'll probably return to 100% of my income being through self-employed once again. I have done this type of work setup before, and I remember that my tax codes have been wrong on my PAYE payslips and it's been a faff to change them. I don't want to start this job with the wrong details, so I'll need some help to find the right code and make sure I fill out the starter form correctly. 1) On page 2 of the Starter Form, how shall I fill it out? - Am I right in saying I should tick "Yes" to box 8 ("Do you have another job?")? - And should I tick 'X' in Statement C (Tax Code BR)? 2) If not, what tax code should I request? Thank you for your help.

Hi ,

If you have not had another PAYE source of income since 6 April 2024 I would answer no to question 8 and no to question 10.

You would then tick statement A. Self employed income does not effect the tax code allocated to your PAYE source of income.

If you have already had a PAYE source of income since 6 April 2024 you would tick no to question 8 and yes to question 10 and tick statement B.

Thank you .
