HMRC Repayment of income tax check from 9 years ago

Hi , I just now received a refund cheque from HMRC Pay as you earn for the income tax 2014-2015 to my address in Poland ,let me mention I no longer work nor live in UK for a long time - I guess I'm trying to figure it out if it's legitimate letter/cheque , and why am I receiving it 9 years later ?! . It also states that calculation of amount being refunded has been sent separately but haven't received that yet . Any advise is appreciated.
