P800

Hi, my son has received a P800 saying he has a tax rebate. Is this letter legitimate? I was always sent a cheque for overpaid tax. Thanks

You will usually receive a P800 calculation confirming how your repayment has been calculated, prior to receiving that repayment. If your son has any doubts as to whether this calculation is legitimate, though, he can contact us by webchat or phone via Income Tax: general enquiries , and we can confirm it.
