Two jobs one employer

I am employed by NHSGGC, but have two separate roles with two different departments. I am paid via two separate payroll numbers for each job. I was told this made things easier for them, but I am wondering if I subsequently pay more tax now because I have wages coming in separately rather than it being one wage and one payroll number?
