Dear Sir/Madam Hello everyone, from 2023 to 2024, I should have about 6,000 pounds of fixed deposit interest in the British bank, and my income from PAY work is about 11,000 pounds, a total of about 17,000 pounds. There is no overseas or other income. I checked through the government website's "Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return" and the result was "You do not need to send a Self Assessment tax return." Does this mean that I do not need to submit a tax return? If I do not submit a tax return, will the government calculate the tax for me and issue a tax bill to me? As a new immigrant, I don’t know the tax filing situation in the UK, so I’d like to thank you for asking. kind regards (Translated by Google)

Hi yanyan,
From the details given you will not meet the criteria to file a Self Assessment tax return.
The tax year end HMRC will receive the untaxed savings details And review your record.
If you have an underpayment of tax a calculation will be issued to you with the details.
Thank you.
