My parents are gifting me some money/ early inheritance. We are Norwegian citizens and they live in Norway. The money will be declared for tax purposes in Norway and paid to my Norwegian bank account. If I then want to transfer this money to England to help pay my mortgage, will I need to pay tax on it here as well?

Hi,

There are no Income Tax implications on the receipt of a cash gift unless the cash gift generates interest or dividends. These would then potentially be subject to Income  tax. You can see further guidance here:

Tax on savings interest

Tax on dividends

Thank you.
