Hi there, My parents are based in Switzerland and I am a UK resident and tax-payer, they would like to provide funds to me from Switzerland but are unsure on the inheritance tax implications with the double taxation treaty. They are going to be selling a property and would like to provide a 1/3 of these funds to me, Does the same 7 year rules apply in terms of IHT? Are the funds solely taxed in Switzerland or in the UK?

Hi,

There are no tax implications on the giving or receipt of cash gifts, but you may wish to speak to inheritance tax regarding any inheritance tax implications.
