Hi, I have an IB (international) joint acc with my husband and it is only used by him only. I wonder that, if it got approx. HKD11200 dividends in 2023-2024 tax year, I will be taxable on half of it, i.e. HKD 5600 (around GBP 580), right? Also, including around GBP5000 saving interest, Do I need to declared in a Self Assessment tax return? I have used this tool "Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return", but it told me I DON'T need to send self assessment since "I didn't got more than £10,000 from savings and investments or more than £10,000 from share dividends" However, I found I topic in regard to the stock dividends from overseas, "Overseas dividends should be declared in a Self Assessment tax return, regardless of how much they are." I am quite confused about this. Pls confirm if I need to send self assessment tax return. Thanks.
