Hi, i wonder if you could help. I do not currently work, but my savings interest may exceed £10,000 when I receive an inheritence. Can you offer any guidance on what my personal allowance be on the basis that I do not work. and also how/if I need to complete a self assessment?Thank you.

I have read them. But i wondered what the personal allowance would be? Would it be 12,570 because I do not work. and thus pay no tax? or do I assume i'd pay the basic tax rate at 20% on everything outside of my £5000 savings allowance?

Hi ,

The personal allowance will be 12570 unless your income is over £100K.

Details online at :
