Hello HRMC, I am a foreigner who is not a tax resident in the UK and would like to invest in UK stocks and bonds. Do I need to pay capital gains tax or income tax on dividends and interest? Is there any withholding tax on these returns? Are there any materials that you can share on these topics? Thanks in advance!

Hi rachelhar,
You would need to researsh:
Tax treaties
For a tax treaty between the UK and your country of residence.
If there is a tax treaty, you should review the treaty for guidance on capital gains tax and how that tax is applied.
Any dividends from the share or capital gain, should be declared to HMRC.
Thank you.
