How do you find out whether capital allowances have been claimed on capital expenditures in the past? Does HMRC have a record of this or can provide us with the previous tax returns which would show this?

HMRC would not know what you have claimed against as you are only required to enter a figure on the return and not what it relates to.
You can telephone 0300 200 3310 to ask for this information .
