I’ve recently changed jobs and kept my old job as a second job, working max 12 hours a month there. New job I was being emergency taxed on but had a letter today saying my tax code has been changed to the new one and send job is now BR code. In this letter they have also estimated my earnings for this year for both jobs at £21667 but my actual will be £17917. So because of this they are saying I will owe £1549 in tax for this year which they will claim back from my earnings next year, bringing my tax code down to 492L for 24/25 tax year. With the tax I’ve paid already this year and due to pay until April and the estimated earnings being wrong, the tax I would have to pay is wrong. Do I need to call HRMC or will they adjust this automatically?

Hi,

If you have an online account you can update your income details to amend the tax codes, otherwise, if you contact HMRC we can review and update your tax code.

Personal tax account: sign in or set up

Income Tax: general enquiries

Thank you.
