Hey I’m a higher rate tax payer in PAYE employment. In previous financial years I’ve made contributions to private pension schemes and completed a self assessment to have the higher rate relief applied. I’m looking at the HMRC website now and my PAYE tax code and what makes up my tax code - I see some things like work benefits - but also noticed ‘personal pension payments’ with a number. Is that number it displays what it expects me to pay in to my personal pension this FY - or is it the associated tax relief from a larger amount? I’ve made no contributions this year so want to avoid a PAYE underpayment this FY Thanks

Hi Dan Springett,
If personal pension payments are shown in your current 2023/24 tax code then this will be what is expected to be paid in to the pension in the current tax year
If this figure is incorrect then you will need to contact HMRC to review and update:
