Hi there, I hope this message finds you well. I'm currently residing and working in Hong Kong, and will be moving to the UK on a BNO-dependent Visa in March 2024, when my Hong Kong employment with (let's call it Company A) will end. Having said that, I will receive a bonus payment from Company A in late April 2024 for my service carried out in Hong Kong in 2023. Such bonus income will be taxable in Hong Kong for tax year 2024/2025. Can I confirm if this bonus income will be taxable in UK too, as I will likely become a UK tax resident for tax year 2024/2025? Thanks.

Hi,

Based on current legislation, income from Hong Kong carried out in Hong Kong is only taxable there and you do not need to declare it here.

Thank you.
