Hello, I have been contacted by my employer as they have incorrectly processed my maternity leave and overpaid me 1.5 months salary. I still work at the company and intend to for the near future. I have questioned regarding the repayment they are requesting is from my Gross Pay & not my Net Pay - is this correct? If so I’m paying back more than I’ve received and overpaid in Tax and NI - how would I retrieve this difference ? For the repayment, they have suggested a salary deduction. is this taken from my gross pay or my net pay? Thanks in advance for your help! Extremely confusing

Hi
It is normally the net amount that you need to repay. If paying back via your salary it would normally be based on your gross pay for the deduction to be taken. You will need to discuss this with your payroll department.
