I am an expat working in UK on a Tier 2 - ICT Visa on a work permit assignment. I have been a UK resident for the tax year 2022-23, as I worked more than 183 days in UK. Since my base work location is in India, a fixed salary portion is deducted from my UK payslip and transferred to my India payslip towards employee benefit schemes within India. Since this same amount appears on both payslips, I have paid tax twice on that income component in UK as well as in India. As I am non-resident(of India) as per the Indian taxation, I do not have an option to claim tax relief from India under DTAA (Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement). Since I was a UK resident for the tax year, would I be able to claim relief for the tax paid in India for the same income?
