I am an EU national and returned to my home country after Brexit. I informed HMRC of the move, filed a couple more tax returns, and retained my UK mobile until roaming charges put an end to it. So I now have a new mobile number. I have also moved house since. Since then I have been trying unsuccessfully to tell HMRC of my whereabouts. When I try to log into the Government Gateway, as I must, a confirmation code text message is sent to a phone number to which I no longer have access. As I am currently visiting the UK I rang their various help lines, finally ending with someone from technical help who went through a long list of ID check questions with me and finally sent me to a page that he said was the last hurdle to establish that I am who I say I am, and lo and behold it asks for 2 out of the 3 following items: 1. a UK passport - erm, no 2. a UK drivers licence - erm, no 3. Credit score information - no idea what that is but since I can provide neither of the other two, who cares At this point my willing HMRC helper gave up. So did I. I tried contacting them via Twitter and was referred back to the website. There is no email contact, no one wants to see my (non-UK) passport or drivers licence - or my ID card. Any suggestions what else I can do? I’m supposed to get my pension next spring and will have to pay tax on that or at least file a tax return. At this rate they can’t even send me the form because it would land somewhere many, many miles from where I actually live. HELP!

Hi
If you are unable to verify with the options provided you will not be able to submit the return online and will need to complete a paper return.
The verification can only be done online ,we can't adjust it manually.
Thankyou.
