Hi! I started a second job which will be a 6 month contract earning a pro rata salary per year of £10,743.84. My first job is zero hours my yearly salary is less than 12,000.00 My first job tax code is 1257L. My second job tax code is BR. I will be working 8 hours per week on my first job and work 18 hours per week on my second job. Is my tax code for my second job correct? Do I have to change the BR tax code to 1257L? How much tax do I need to pay on my second job based on my yearly salary? Please advice. Thank you. BR, Red John

Hi,

If you are not using all your tax free personal allowance at your main job then the balance can be allocated against your second job.

If you contact our Income Tax team we can review and update your tax codes for you.
