Apologies if this type of query has been asked previously. My widowed mother has recently passed away, leaving me the family farm. The threshold for my IHT is £650,000 (no probate etc when my late father died). As the farm is valued less than £650,000 & no IHT is due, do I still need to notify HMRC? If so what form? Thank you

Hi Marla Brown,
As the Inheritance Tax threshold is  £325,000 please refer to with regards to reporting this.
How Inheritance Tax works: thresholds, rules and allowances
Thank you.

Hi Admin 25, I should have stated that I've used the HMRC calculator which confirms no IHT due, as per previously legal advice received. As no IHT is due, could you please confirm which form to complete?

Hi,
Please have a look at:
How to value an estate for Inheritance Tax and report its value
It will tell you when to send full details of the estate’s value even if no tax is due.
Where the estate does not meet the criteria for sending details of the estate's value, then there is nothing more that you need to do.
Thank you.
