My husband has two updates to his tax code and we are baffled. The first update was in October as follows: Personal Allowance: 12570 Less Car Benefit: 4377 Less Adjustment for tax you owe (earlier year): 1050 Less Adjustment for estimated tax you owe (this year): 4702 Total tax-free amount: £2441 We agree the car benefit and the adjustment for the earlier year, but cannot agree the adjustment for the tax owed this year. He got in touch with HMRC and they corrected his projected earnings for the tax year and we waited. He has now received an even worse tax code, the first two are the same but the adjustment for this tax year has gone up to £6258. We called HMRC but they said they cannot see the figure £6258 on their system so cannot comment on why it is there, what else can we possibly do?

Hi,

If your husband has received a tax code then HMRC would also be able to view the tax code issued. In this case we would need to access your husbands record to review this and update if needed.
