Yesterday I was trying to get a self assessment when I noticed that my main adress and postal adress were incorrect. I attempted to changed the address but only got the change after I said I moved in last month when I have lived there for years. My address has been fixed now but it conflicts with my self assessment saying I have lived there for over 3 years. Do I need to contact you inorder to prevent conflict and to correct my move in date and remove the previous address that I have never lived in? If so how do I contact you? I tried finding a way to contact HMRC and I didn't get much help from the phone so I am trying here.

Hi,
One you update your address, the information filters through to all of your records.
As long as the correct address is on record, when you input the details, everything should match.
Thank you.

I have had the same issue- a totally random address that I have no connection to.
I cannot change it without putting in a more recent (and wrong) date and i don't want to do that- I never lived at the incorrect address so I don't want it connected to me.
HRMC- why is this happening to multiple people (seen lots of threads)??
Seems like a massive GDPR scandal?!

Hi cassiet
HMRC receives address updates from a number of sources including employers, pension providers and other government departments that are updated in good faith.
If anyone is advised that we don’t have the correct information, including address, please notify HMRC immediately. We will then update the correct information on your records.
Failure to do so will result in correspondence being issued to an incorrect address.
The quickest and easiest way to update this information is through:
• your personal tax account
• the official HMRC app
Alternatively you can use the options available at Contact HMRC
Thank you

I'm experiencing a similar issue. I've noticed that both my main address and postal address were incorrect. I tried to update my address, but the change only went through after stated that I moved in last week, despite having lived there for many years. I'm now worried about how this might impact my future assessments or the renewal of my visa. I've attempted to reach out through the HMRC app, but it keeps directing me back to the same link with guidance on how to update my address. Now that my correct address is in the system, do I need to take any further action regarding the previous address, which I've never lived at? I also tried to get in touch with HMRC by phone, but I didn't receive much assistance, so I'm reaching out here for help.
