Hi, I am a UK citizen who moved to Australia in Jan 2024 for work for 4 years. I was resident in the UK from April 2023 to Jan 2024. I filled in a P85 form on leaving the UK and was given an NT tax code. I will file a Self Assessment return for April 2023 to Jan 2024. Do I need to report my Australian income from Jan 2024 to April 2024 in the UK tax return and pay taxes in the UK? This income has been taxed in Australia as I am an Australian Resident for tax purposes. If I am required to pay taxes in the UK, I would be taxed twice for the same income. Please advise. Thanks

Hi,
As you were not resident in the UK when this Australian work was undertaken, it is not taxable in the UK and you do not include it in your tax return.
Thank you.
