Hello, I am currently working full time over the summer period and will be ending my employment in the next few weeks. This is my first job and I am entitled to the full personal allowance. I have been informed that my next weekly payslip will have income tax deducted as I have earned £4000 so far. If I update my estimated income in the HMRC app will this stop any deductions from taking place? I will not earn enough to exceed the personal allowance and wish to avoid waiting weeks for an income tax refund.

Hi HarveySpecter,
As the Personal Allowance is split over the full tax year, this may cause you to pay tax now that will not be due at the end of the tax year.
You will need to contact us after you receive your P45 and advise you will have no further income during the tax year.
Income Tax: general enquiries
Thank you.
