I moved overseas 2 years ago and regularly send money to my family/wife's account. this account is a joint account with me. I am a non-resident in the UK for tax purposes and do not stay more than 90 days in the UK. I also do not work in the UK. Is my wife liable to tax on the money she gets from me in our joint account from my overseas income? if I send money to myself in the UK in the same joint account what are the implications?

Hi ,

No.

It is your income that generates these payments, so only you are liable to tax in the country of residence .

There are no tax implications from giving or receiving a cash gift .

Thank you .
