For the first time my interest income from savings will be above my PSA but below £10k, I assumed that this would automatically be confirmed to HMRC as previous years below my PSA are shown on my online account but no tax was needed, however for 23/24 I've been sent a Bank and Building Society Interest (BBSI) form for completion. My 23/24 PAYE income tax summary is not currently available online so I can't see what has been reported. As I use a savings platform I haven't actually got the individual account details just the total interest received for the year, do I need to complete this form? I also received stock interest from gilts, will this be automatically be reported to HMRC or do I have to do this myself? If so how is this done as I can't see an option on the online account for reporting this.

Hi,

Untaxed interest from the banks and building societies are sent to HMRC after the tax year end.

For the stock interest from the gilts, if you submit the details in a letter we can review this for you. The address is:

Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment,
HM Revenue and Customs,
BX9 1AS UK.

Thank you.
