I have just received a letter from the German soclal security office stating they will tax me for the German state pension received from year 2022 and 2023. I expect 2024 will come soon. They claim that Germany has the right to tax me and not the UK. I include this pension income as Foreign Income on my UK SA every year and pay the required tax in the UK. Is this correct? Is there any form from HMRC that can be sent to the German authorities showing the tax is paid according to UK rules? Thanks for any info.

Hi,
The German state pension is now only taxable in Germany.
If you have already declared it in the UK you will need to amend your tax return. if you filed online, you can amend the 22/23 return yourself.
If by paper, you can send a letter tor HMRC to amend it. for 2022, it needs to be a letter. going forward, you do not include this income in your tax return.
Thank you.
