Is there a limit on what can be sold as personal items (non-profit) in terms of quantity and value? As this is not in your link.

Admin 25, the link you sent is for gains/profits/capital gains! Question: If I were to sell my personal items for around £16K, around £2K apiece over the months (no gains, no profits, just some of my personal equipment that I use for my hobby), I need not declare this; is that correct or not? Please don't respond with a link.

Hi @HMRC Admin 32, Thanks for your response. Is this a new policy? I see that there are many questions with scenarios from other members, yet I receive this response... I'm confused... Is there someone or a team from HMRC that I can ask for advice so that I don't get into trouble for selling my personal items? Thank You.

Hi, I have sold over nearly over £1000 in sales on eBay but at an overall loss so I am in the minus no profit. Do I still have to declare this?

Hi, i've resold items on ebay for a sum larger than £1000. However i have no other job and do not make more than 12K. Would i still have to pay tax? Thank you.

Hi, I am selling my comic book collection. I am not a business and I will not be buying more to continue selling later. I am a private seller but will be making well over £1000 if they all sell. Do I need to pay tax or fill out a self assessment?

Hello admin, I was wondering when this £1000 resets? Is this in January or at the end of the financial year (April 1st). Thanks

Hi,
Please see:
Check if you need to tell HMRC about your income
This advises:
When you are telling HMRC about your income, you will need to report the income for the tax year, which is from 6 April to 5 April the following year.
Some online platforms will show your income for the calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December. If this is the case you will need to work out the income for the tax year before using the tool.
Thank you.
