HI, I become UK tax resident on 25 Aug 2022 and worked 14 days (from 29 Aug 2022 to 15 Sep 2022) in the UK in the tax year 2022-2023, then I have no paid leave and maternity leave until 6 Feb 2023, during maternity leave, I still get paid, do I need to pay any tax for the period with my maternity leave? and I go back to my home country on 10 Feb 2023 and work in my home country from 10 Feb 2023 to 5 April 2023, do I need to pay tax for this period of time? for your info, I return to the UK on 1 May 2023 and my job terminated on 22 April 2023

Hi,

UK residents are required to declare their worldwide income in the UK through Self Assessment. Please see link below.

Tax on foreign income: Overview

You meet Self Assessment criteria as you were in receipt of foreign income for tax year 2022 to 2023. If not already done so you should now register for Self Assessment. As your UK employer continued to pay you whilst on maternity leave then all income and tax will be included on your P60 for the year and should be included in your Self Assessment return.

Thank you.
