Hi all I am in the process of buying a property which has the below on the title register Notice of an Inland Revenue charge (Reference number Xx) in respect of such inheritance tax as may arise by reason of the death of xx on xxx 2016. Does anyone have experience with such a charge? I presume the charge would sit with the property (and any purchaser). Does anyone know what the process of clearing such a charge would be; presume it could involve any dues being settled as part of any sale. Many thanks

Hi ,

You will need to contact the inheritance tax helpline on 0300 123 1072 for advice in this area,

as it is not an income tax matter.

Thank you .
