Hi, My father who is a tax payer in India sold his property in India and have some money.My father would like to send around £30000 as a gift to me. I am staying in UK since 4 years, We would like to purchase house in Uk with that gift amount.Whether is there any tax deduction on that amount while transferring money from India to UK.And we are planing to use partial amount from gift amount for house deposit and rest of amount want it keep it in ISA for future needs of my daughter's education. In that case whether we need to pay any tax here. appriciate your response.Thank you.

There are no income tax implications on the receipt of a cash gift unless the cash gift generates interest or dividends.

These would then potentially be subject to tax.
