Hi, I left UK last year and I updated my new address on my profile to ensure that all mail from HRMC send by post will reach me to my new address. I received a message on 6 November that I am due a tax refund and a cheque will be send in 14 days, but I haven't received anything since. For cheques sent abroad (I live in Romania now), how much time does delivery take so I have a realistic timeline? Last time I was due a refund, I had the option to be reimbursed by bank transfer, so I gave my details and received the money quite quickly, is this no longer an option? Many thanks advance!

Hi,
It usually takes between 2 - 3 weeks to receive a cheque repayment, though it may take additional time to reach an address abroad.
If you do not have your repayment by the 11th of December, please contact us by webchat, phone or post via:
Income Tax: general enquiries, remembering to confirm your current address.
While we can arrange to issue a replacement cheque, we unfortunately cannot usually send a repayment by bank transfer when a cheque has previously been issued.
Thank you.
