I am now working full time overseas and is supporting my wife and my family in Uk financially as the bread winner. I transfer roughly £40000 in a full tax year to my wife’s Uk bank account. Does she need to report this lump sum as income in her self assessment? Thank you.

Hi Carl Tscar,
No,this is not income generated by your wife and there is no tax implications on the transfer of assets between spouses and civil partners.
If the money is placed in a bank account with your wife's name, even a joint account, then any interest the money generates is taxable and should be declared.
Thank you.
